You're Worth More Than Gold.

Yes my friends. I have found a fantabulous music video by Britt Nicole.
A little cheesy, but hey! I love the lyrics.

So curiosity got ahold of me, and I went to see the "making of Gold music video". Ya know.
And Britt Nicole said that the ideas for the trials that those kids went through were real life examples from people that she knew.

And I realized how common and real these things really are.
From the major things like eating disorders, and cutting yourself, to small every day things, like not feeling appreciated, or being put down.
And when that does happen, don't let those people bother you. Because they are not worth your time or your tears.
And they don't know the real you.

So here's the challenge. Be yourself. No matter what happens.
And if your friends make fun of you - they're not your friends. Let yourself shine and don't let anyone put you down.
Because you owe it to yourself, and your real friends out there to get to know who you really are.

And never, ever be afraid to sparkle a little brighter.
Because I know that there will be people out there who will put you down and make you feel like you're alone. But there will also be people out there are just aching to be your friend and get to know you.
So just realize that you are important, it's your time to shine, and you're worth more than gold. (:

V-Day. Yeah.

Valentines Day.
Pink, red, hearts, chocolates, teddy bears, love, bright red lipstick, kisses, XOXO, candy, valentines - oh ya know, just the usual.
Here is some fabulous Valentine wisdom from some youngins. Hehe.

"Where do your parents go on dates?"
"Costco...."
(: Cracks me up.

Anyways, this year, I actually realized that Valentines Day is kinda like another Thanksgiving.
Confused? Let me explain.
This year, I actually thought about the people, and the blessings in my life, and what I really love.
Everyone was either depressed that they didn't have somebody to share valentines day with, or angry and blowing off the holiday all together.
Because really, some people in high school take love a little too seriously. Ok, a lotta too seriously.
And then there's me. Who should probably just change my facebook status to say something like "Sweatpants, Oreos and Netflix".

To be honest? I was going to blow off the holiday entirely... until I got a small white bear holding a red "Love" heart. And it literally made my day.

Then throughout the day, I started to realize that Valentine's Day isn't about kissing, and candy.
Oh no. It's about realizing that life is great, worth living, and that there's so much to love!!
And hey. There are some perks to being single on Valentines day...
I mean hey. Sweatpants, Netflix, Oreos!? I'm all set folks!
Ok. Now that I'm done preachin', I have something to admit.
I believe that Valentine's Day is hilarious. Unless you are an adorable old couple.
But other than that, I honestly think that Valentine's day is kinda really amusing....
Especially the funny Valentines. And pictures. And facebook statuses. And - well, you get the picture.
So look at this gem that I found.

I mean really, who doesn't love grumpy cat!?

But remember friends, lets try not to look like this today.
People will think we are sad and pathetic.... so please just embrace the holiday. For your sake, and mine. Really.
Anyways, just know that I love you guys and I hope you have a fantabulous Valentines day.
No matter how you spend it. (:

I think we all need a pep talk.

Click it. It's that good.

"ROCKS! THORNS! and GLASS!
Not cool Robert Frost!!"

Hahahahahaha. So good.

Cause hey. We all know how tough our everyday lives can get. And those people who make our lives a living nightmare, yeah they're not much of a help either.
But I love what he said about life.
If life is a game, doesn't that mean we're all on the same team?

There's always going to be that one person who we're not ecstatic to see everyday, and hey, that probably means somebody isn't too fond of you either.  But we're all on the same team. The only way to make it through life is to help one another. "And not be boring."

For example?
I'm just sitting at lunch when I hear a group of people talking smack about another girl, who was on the bleachers right below us.
(Sidenote.  I hate gossip. So much. I seriously cannot stand it. Because here's a fact in life folks. When someone gossips about a certain person to you, there is a 99% chance that they gossip about you to others. Food for thought.)
So after eating, when I realized that I was down by the bleachers and that this girl was standing a few feet away from me, I just said hi. Just a simple hi.  And just listening to all of those hurtful words that those people had said, probably hurt me the most.  Even if some things are true about a person, hearing all of them behind their back is so painful.

Anyways, this post was kinda just a quick reminder that we're all on the same team.
If that's the only thing you get from this post, please let it be that.
Because you have no idea how much the words you say and the way you act can affect others.
So whose team are you on?

Hope today has been a fantastic Friday everybody.

It's Wicked Awesome.

I love musicals.
No. Actually, I adore musicals.
And there's only one thing better than a musical - a broadway musical.
I love just knowing that you're about to see a fabulous performance.
The way you sit forward in your chair a little bit, anticipating the show.
But most of all, I love the music.
It's the music that's still stuck in your head weeks after you've seen the show.

And when that happens, you are mentally forced to go and buy the musical's soundtrack.
(YES.)
Then after school, you can come home and click play on the radio in your kitchen and re-live the musical all over again, singing and dancing around the kitchen with your 8 year old sister, reenacting the whole musical all over again.

And it never gets old.
Because there are so many musicals that I absolutely adore. I mean really, I could just live off of musicals.
Lion King, Annie, The Music Man, The Drowsy Chaperone, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music - the list just goes on. And on.

But personal favorite? Wicked.
Hands down. I've seen two Broadway shows live - Wicked and Lion King.
Both were absolutely fabulous (hey, that's broadway for ya), but my all time favorite musical is Wicked.

The entire story plot is pure genius.
I mean really, it all just weaves itself in to connect to the Wizard of OZ story, and it makes perfect sense!!
Go see the show. Tickets are about eighty bucks, but seriously? TOTALLY WORTH IT.

Not only is the music addicting, and the plot incredible, but you can also learn a lot from Wicked.
(P.S. This will make a heck of a lot more sense to those of you who have seen the musical.)

The wicked witch of the west isn't actually that wicked.
Dance through life.
Don't take green drinks from strangers. EVER.
Toss toss.
And defy gravity.
I love the lyrics in the song that say "Everyone deserves the chance to fly". Because it's so true.
Challenge? I want you to do your best, and be yourself, even if there's that one girl that would do anything to bring you down.

Now, what's a blog post without some pinterest magic!?.. But really.

Yes my friends, that picture is made entirely out of lyrics from Wicked. Genius.
Secondly, I want these shoes. So badly.
So if anybody would like to get them for me, it would be much appreciated.

Have a Wicked awesome Thursday folks. Ha. So punny.

As We Stumble Along...

... or literally stumble along, in my case.

Ok. Here's the 411. (don't even know what that means, but it sounds pretty pro, so im going to use it anyways.)

If you want a reason to laugh, be entertained, or gasp, read on.
So yesterday was a banner day alright.
As I woke up, I looked at the clock and saw that it read 8:04.
Great. And right when I was about to turn back over and skip first period, I remembered that it was the day of presidential testing in gym (which is my first period.)
Whoops.
So I panicked. And let me tell ya. It is not a pretty sight when I panic.
I shoved my hair up into a messy bun, grabbed a handful of pretzels, and ran out the door.
Now, not only did I forget a lunch, but I also forgot my phone and a jacket. Just lovely.
When I got to the gym, they were just finishing up the presidentials.  I walked up to the coach and handed him my late slip, then slid into the back of the small line for sit and reach.
Then came the shuttle run. And this is where disaster strikes.
He said we could volunteer, or he would just call us up randomly. So after about the sixth person he called, I volunteered to get it over with.
Not the best idea.
On my second way back, I heard him say to the other girls in the backround "You guys are taking such tiny steps." And yes, that was exactly what I was doing taking tiny steps.
Anyways, so as I was running back to get the other cone, I turfed it.
Yup. I fell right on my face. Great way to start off the day.
And yes, I do have a gigantic purple bruise on my knee to prove it.
I'll spare you the rest of the story (but those of you lucky peeps who are in my gym class saw the end....)
But all I want you to take from this is that there's only one way to get through life. And that my friend, is by laughing.
For those of you who know me, you know that I love to laugh, and smile, because hey! Who doesn't like to smile!?
But really, I want to challenge everyone to just laugh.
When you trip and fall on your face in front of a boy you like, just crack a joke and smile.
If you lose something really important and cannot find it for the life of you, just take a deep breath and realize that it's going to be alright.
When your car gets stuck and you can't figure out how to get it out of the snow, just look up at the snowflakes and laugh.
I love Marjorie Pay Hinckley, so here's a little tidbit of fabulous from her.

Have a marvelous Thursday everybody.

Dear Santa...

Christmas was amazing.
And no, it was not because I got a gersquillion presents.
(Which my family doesn't. We have this rule where you get 1 to wear, eat, play with, and read. Lovely.)

Anyways, first of all, I got a SMASH book.
And I am in love!!
I've kinda already filled up half of it... ha. whoops.

My favorite part of the video, and Smash book in general?
The line messy and beautiful.
Because it's so true!!
And it is overall, seriously, absolutely fabulous.
It is like my Pinterest journal.
Yes, it's that good.

Anyways, that was the first highlight of my Christmas.
The second highlight? Oh just one of my favorite foods ever.
Yes folks, I love funeral potatoes. Too much.

But really, who couldn't?

Now. Back to business.
In my last post, I wrote that I would write again the next day.
Well guess what?
The next day, we woke up to our mom hustling us out of the house so that we could go and pack containers to ship to Zimbabwe. Then our water heater broke just before we left.  We weren't sure what was wrong with it at the time, so my dad told us to just go, and he would do his best to figure it out. Then we got in the car to discover that my mom's car had a dead battery.

And once we came back from doing service, we left for St. George.
I know, that was a mouthfull.
But hey. All's well that end's well, right?

And what's a Christmas blog post without an elf pic, eh?

And may I just say that this is seriously, my favorite part of the whole entire movie!?!?
Okay. You can go on with your lives now. (:
